First, let me say there are too many incredible Bible verses to limit myself to only five favorites, but that is what I am going to do. I am going to do this since it wouldn't be a very easy post to read or write if it were the "Top Two Thousand Favorite Bible Verses."
For this post I am limiting myself to 5 verses that have been a source of amazing encouragement for me over the years. Several years ago I felt the nudging of the Holy Spirit to memorize some Bible verses and I am so glad that I did. These verses have been readily available for God to use in my life as a result of having them memorized.
I am picking these 5 verses based on what they have meant to me in my daily walk and also the fact that God has used them in my daily interactions with others on a regular basis over the years.
1. "For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37
God can do all things. When I think about God I should not place worldly and human limitations on Him. In fact, I should recognize God is able to do more than I could even imagine.
2. "For I can do all things with Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13
I am able to do more with the strength of Jesus working in my life and flowing through me than I could ever dream possible.
3. "Be still and know that I am God." Psalms 46:10
This verse has been so important to my sanity. When I get anxious and worried the Holy Spirit reminds me to be still and know that God is still in charge and it always helps me.
4. "God is our refuge and strength an ever present help in times of trouble." Psalm 46:1
I get myself in trouble a lot and need a refuge, a strong refuge. God is that refuge. I know that, but, sometimes I need a reminder.
5. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
This verse has so much significance in my life that I will probably have to write a post about it sometime soon. But, the short version is "Trust God, not me, know He is God and let Him be God in my life."
Those of you who can read you will notice this is not one verse but two but I think they go together naturally and therefore for my list they are a verse.
Well, there it is my top 5 list of favorite verses. These verses have encouraged and inspired me over and over again throughout the years and I'm sure God will continue to use them in my life.
Why don't you leave a comment and share your list of favorite Bible verses.
God bless you real good!
Tim
