Sometimes in life we are on the edge. What we don't know can be even more scary than what we know. I want to share a little about a time like that in my life.
Several years back I was the Manager/Therapist of a cottage at a children's home. The agency was going through some changes and was beginning to outsource the therapy services to the local Community Mental Health Center and private providers due to liability or whatever (I never did really understand what that was all about). But, the end result was in order the cut costs they decided to change the cottage Manager's position from masters level to bachelors level people and myself and three other people were laid off. I had heard rumors about this possibility and had spent some quality time in prayer so when the day came I was prepared (with God's help). I accepted the news even better than I could have hoped even though I was on the edge of the unknown. I didn't know what would happen next in my life.
After leaving my supervisor's office I went back to my office and began to pray and thank God for all the blessings I had and what I knew He would bring about in my future. While I was praying the following verse came to me and so I started writing. In about 15 minutes it was done and I cannot tell you how much of an encouragement it was.
I believe God gave me this verse to remind me of His greatness and that He is in charge and I have to follow Him. I don't claim to be a poet but I know God gave me this verse to encourage me and maybe others out there.
Near Water's Edge
Near water's edge I stand and wait, obedient to my Lord.
The next step will bring miracles according to His word.
I patiently await the sound commanding me to move.
I will step out, though some say, "no," my faith in God to prove.
"The odds are bad." "You cannot win." "Impossible!" they say.
But I know something they forget—my Jesus lives today.
For nothing is impossible with Jesus at my side.
And I can do all things through Him; with Jesus I'll abide.
When Jesus tells me to step out, I'll step without delay.
For Jesus has a miracle in store for me today.
Like Joshua and Israel, I'll move at God's command.
And cross my river Jordan into my promised land.

Honoring God in the good and the bad times
We have to stay focused on God and who He is at all times to keep our balance, especially when we are on the edge of the unknown.
I hope this verse has been an encouragement to you. Please share your comments.
God bless you real good!
Tim
